Patiala, Punjab (India) – A search operation is being conducted in 25 jails of Punjab on Wednesday under Operation Satrak. Punjab ADGP Law and Order Arpit Shukla and ADGP Prisons Arunpal Singh have reached Central Jail Patiala for checking.
The security arrangements for the search in the barracks are being reviewed. It is important to note that there are many dangerous prisoners in the Central Jail Patiala and mobile phones and other objectionable materials have been recovered from them in the past.
The search operation is being conducted to ensure that the jails in Punjab are free of objectionable/prohibited material and do not become house for drugs and organized crime.
The search operation is expected to be completed by the end of the day.
