Punjab Cabinet Minister Chetan Singh Jouramajra Pays Homage to Freedom Fighters

News Patiala:- In a first-of-its-kind initiative, Punjab Cabinet Minister Chetan Singh Jouramajra visited the homes of freedom fighters in the Patiala district to pay his respects.

 

Jouramajra met with Tara Singh and Kashmir Singh of village Shambhu Kalan, Sewa Singh and Kashmir Singh of village Suhron, Charan Singh of village Shahpur Rayan, Harjant Singh and Gurcharan Singh of village Alampur, Karnail Singh and Avtar Singh resident of Rajpura.

 

He expressed his deep respect for the courage and spirit of the freedom fighters and said that their sacrifices are a source of pride for Punjab. He also said that the Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is committed to honoring the freedom fighters.

 

In a related development, the Punjab government has increased the pension of freedom fighters from 9,400 rupees to 11,000 rupees per month. This decision will benefit a total of 545 beneficiaries, including freedom fighters themselves, widows of late freedom fighters, or their unmarried and unemployed daughters or sons.

 

Jouramajra said that this step is proof of the government’s commitment to recognize and pay homage to the sacrifices of the freedom fighters. He also said that the government will continue to take steps to ensure that the legacy of the freedom fighters lives on in the hearts and minds of all Punjabis.
