India Bans Import of Laptops, Tablets, and PCs to Boost Local Manufacturing

News Patiala:- The Indian government has imposed import restrictions on laptops, tablets, all-in-one personal computers, ultra-small form factor computers, and servers. The move is expected to cut down on imports from countries like China and encourage local manufacturing.

In a notification, the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) said that import licenses of up to 20 items per consignment will be granted for research and development (R&D), testing, benchmarking, repair, and product development purposes. All other imports will be banned.

The government said that the move is in line with its Make in India initiative, which aims to boost domestic manufacturing. The government believes that the ban will help to create jobs and boost the economy.
