Punjab Vigilance Bureau nabs ASI for accepting bribe

News Patiala July 11, 2023 – The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) has arrested an Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) for accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000.

The accused ASI, Makhan Shah, was posted at Police Post Handiaya in Barnala district. He was arrested on the complaint of Satgur Singh, a resident of Khudi Kalan in Barnala district.

The complainant had alleged that the ASI had demanded Rs 5,000 as a bribe to get the court order implemented regarding a common agriculture tubewell for equal distribution of water for irrigation.

After a preliminary investigation, the VB laid a trap and arrested the ASI while accepting the bribe from the complainant.

A case has been registered against the ASI under various sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act. Further investigation is underway.
