Punjab Floods: Army Assists in Patiala and Ropar

News Patiala, July 10, 2023 – The army has been called in to assist with the flooding in Punjab, particularly in the districts of Patiala and Ropar.

The Western Command of the army said that it had received requests for assistance from the DCs of Patiala and Ropar, and that two recce parties had been sent to assess the situation.

In Ropar, the army has been deployed to help with the evacuation of people from flooded villages. The army has also been helping to repair a breach in a canal in Rajpura, where 2,000 students are trapped.

The situation is particularly serious in Chhurd Sortpur, where the army is providing relief to 47 people who have been evacuated from Chitkara University.

The army has said that it is committed to providing assistance to the people of Punjab affected by the floods, and that it will continue to work with the local authorities to ensure that the situation is brought under control.
