Heavy Rain Alert in Punjab, Chief Secretary Calls Meeting of Officials

East Malwa under Orange Alert, Doaba under Yellow Alert

News Patiala: July 10th 2023- Punjab is on high alert as heavy rain is expected in the state today. The Chief Secretary has called a meeting of officials from all departments to discuss rescue operations and other preparations.

The orange alert for East Malwa means that heavy rain is expected in the next few hours. The yellow alert for Doaba means that there is a possibility of heavy rain.

The Chief Secretary has asked officials to stay on high alert and to take all necessary precautions. He has also asked them to coordinate with the NDRF and other agencies to ensure that people are safe.

Schools Closed in Jalandhar, Villages Evacuates

Schools have been closed in two cities of Jalandhar today due to the heavy rain alert. More than 50 villages have also been evacuated in the state.

The DC of Ambala has given instructions not to use the Haryana-Ludhiana National Highway 44 today. The water of rivers and canals in the state is flowing above the danger mark.
