News Patiala: 10th July 2023-Former Patiala Deputy Mayor Harinder Kohli joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Friday, along with 50 of his supporters. Kohli was a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for over 20 years, and served as the deputy mayor of Patiala from 2017 to 2022.
Kohli said that he was joining the AAP because he was impressed by the party’s work in Delhi and Punjab. He said that the AAP was the only party that could provide honest and transparent governance.
“I have been a BJP worker for over 20 years, but I am disappointed with the way the party has been functioning in recent years,” Kohli said. “The AAP is the only party that can provide honest and transparent governance. I am confident that the AAP will bring a positive change in Punjab.”
Dr Balbir, welcomed Kohli and his supporters to the party. He said that Kohli’s experience would be valuable to the AAP.
“Harinder Kohli is a seasoned politician with a wealth of experience,” Singh said. “His joining the AAP is a major boost for the party. I am confident that he will play a key role in the AAP’s victory in the upcoming Punjab Assembly elections.”
Kohli’s decision to join the AAP is a major setback for the BJP in Punjab. The BJP is currently facing a leadership crisis in the state, and Kohli’s departure is likely to further weaken the party.
The AAP is hoping to capitalize on the BJP’s weakness in Punjab. The party is already seen as the frontrunner in the upcoming Assembly elections, and Kohli’s joining the AAP is likely to further boost its chances of victory.
