Chandigarh declares public holiday on 29th July 2023 on account of Muharram

Chandigarh, 28th July 2023: The Chandigarh administration has declared 29th July 2023 (Saturday) as a public holiday on account of Muharram. This is in lieu of the earlier announced restricted holiday.

All government offices, boards, corporations, and industrial establishments under the Chandigarh administration will remain closed on this day.

Muharram is a significant religious festival for Muslims, commemorating the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain, the grandson of Prophet Muhammad.

The holiday declaration is a way for the Chandigarh administration to respect the religious sentiments of the Muslim community in the city.

The public is requested to note the holiday and plan their activities accordingly.
