- Tehsildars and naib tehsildars have been accused of taking bribes to register property, issue birth certificates, and provide other government services.
News Patiala: Punjab government has asked the Vigilance Bureau to investigate allegations of bribery against tehsildars and naib tehsildars. The government received a complaint that personal workers of tehsildars and naib tehsildars were taking bribes on their behalf. The Vigilance Bureau has collected data from the field and sent it to the Chief Secretary of the state. The data shows that tehsildars and naib tehsildars are taking bribes and writing codes on property papers to mark which bribes have been paid.
The Vigilance Bureau is still investigating the allegations, but the data that they have collected so far suggests that there is a serious problem with bribery in the tehsildar and naib tehsildar offices in Punjab.
