17 lakh crore rupees spent in 12 years
News Patiala: Qatar is hosting the FIFA World Cup 2022 this year. It is being called the most expensive World Cup in history. The cost of the 1994 FIFA World Cup was $500 million. $2.3 billion in 1998, $7 billion in 2002, $4.3 billion in 2006, $3.6 billion in 2010, $15 billion in 2014, $11.6 billion in 2018. What happened this time is that the cost of the FIFA World Cup increased. This time this expenditure has reached 229 billion dollars i.e. 17 lakh crore Indian rupees.
In 2010 it was announced that the 2022 FIFA World Cup would be held in Qatar. From that time till today, Qatar had 12 years. In these 12 years, Qatar had to build 8 stadiums, build hotels to accommodate guests, lay a new rail line and expand the airport.
Technology bought from abroad
June and July are very hot summers in Qatar. That is why this time the World Cup has been held in winter. Advanced air conditioning cooling systems were purchased by Qatar to cool the stadium. Also the special grass of the stadium was bought from America.
Safety equipment purchased from Europe
In 2017, Qatar signed a contract to buy 24 fighter jets, 9 state-of-the-art Hawk MK-167 training jets from Europe’s largest security company for Rs 65,000 crore. In addition, the 2012 Olympics asked Britain for special security technology. Qatar’s National Security Center will monitor the country through drones, CCTV and sensors.
Luxury for sportsmen
More than 20,000 volunteers have gathered for the Qatar FIFA World Cup. Arrangements have been made for their accommodation and food. Along with this, swimming pool, restaurant, spa, fitness center, water adventure park, scuba diving and go-karting have been arranged for the players.
