News Patiala, July 16, 2022 –
Deputy Commissioner Patiala visited Badshahpur to review the flood control arrangements on the Ghaggar river. During this time, She also inspected Momia Drain, Arnetu, Dwarkapur, and Harchandpura. He asked for strict vigilance and said that the district administration is alert. Additional Deputy Commissioner (Rural Development) Isha Singhal was also present with him.
The Deputy Commissioner gave instructions to Ramandeep Singh Bains, Executive Engineer of the Drainage Department. 24 hours monitoring should be kept on the flow and water level of the Ghaggar river. All preparations should be made to control any dangerous situation.
She said that all the flood control rooms in the district are functional. The district administration is prepared to deal with any emergency situation like floods. SDO Drainage Rakwinder Singh and residents of the villages were also present.
It may be mentioned that the heir of yesterday destroyed the city of Patiala. Waris was such that there was water in every corner of every city. Government vehicles and cars of the secretariat were stuck in the water two by two. The volunteer members appointed by the administration were nowhere to be seen. It has been observed that a slight rain outside the DC office causes the water to stand up to such an extent that the staff has to resort to boarding their vehicles as the area is lower than the roads which reduces the flow of water.
