Punjab News Shiromani Committee president closed room meeting with Jathedar of Akal Takht

After the delegation of Shiromani Akali Dal met with Jathedar Giani Raghbir Singh of Sri Akal Takht yesterday, the President of Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami has held a closed room meeting with Jathedar Giani Raghbir Singh today. The details of this meeting held at the Jathedar’s residence have not been disclosed by any of the parties. However, there is a discussion that during this meeting, the seven-member committee formed by Dhami regarding the recruitment of Shiromani Akali Dal has been discussed. Advocate Dhami is the chairman of this committee and so far no meeting of this committee has been held. On the other hand, Dhami clarified in a video message that it was a routine meeting and the speculations being made about it are unnecessary.

A delegation of Shiromani Akali Dal had met Jathedar Giani Raghbir Singh on Wednesday and informed him about the legal hurdle caused by this committee. The delegation said that the committee formed by the Akal Takht cannot legally interfere in the election of Shiromani Akali Dal. This may cause a crisis to the existence of the party. The election of the party can be done only according to the constitution.

Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami today clarified through a video message that his meeting with Jathedar Giani Raghbir Singh was a routine meeting. He came to pay obeisance at Sri Harmandir Sahib in the morning and went to meet him. He said that all the speculations being made about this meeting are futile. Remember that the Shiromani Akali Dal delegation called a meeting of the Shiromani Akali Dal working committee in Chandigarh on January 10 immediately after meeting the Jathedar yesterday. The meeting will discuss the resignation of Sukhbir Singh Badal and the recruitment of the party along with other resignations.
