Canada News: The Canadian Supreme Court has granted bail to four accused in the murder case of Khalistan supporter Hardeep Singh Nijjar. The court has also issued an order for their release.
According to a report of ‘CNN-News-Patiala’, the Supreme Court of Canada has on Thursday granted bail to four Indians arrested in Canada in the murder case of Hardeep Singh Nijhar. The next hearing of this matter will now be held on February 11 in the British Columbia Supreme Court. It is to be noted that Hardeep Singh Nijhar was declared a terrorist by India.
According to details, the Supreme Court has issued the release order due to lack of evidence after the trial court stayed the proceedings. According to sources, the Canadian police could not produce solid evidence against the accused.
The four Indians arrested in this connection have been identified as Karan Brar, Amandeep Singh, Kamalpreet Singh and Karnpreet Singh. They were charge sheeted in November 2024. He filed an appeal for bail in the Canadian Supreme Court, which was granted by the court.
According to court documents, three of the accused appeared for the hearing through video conferencing, while one appeared through his lawyer. Commenting on this matter, an official of British Columbia Prosecution Service (British Columbia Prosecution Service) said, “Some pre-trial aspects will be held before the actual trial, but we cannot say anything about the duration of the pre-trial yet. “
On June 18, 2023, Nijhar was shot dead by gunmen outside a Gurdwara in Surrey, British Columbia, Canada. In this case, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (Royal Canadian Mounted Police) arrested Karanpreet, Kamalpreet and Karan Brar in May 2024.
