Bhubaneswar, January 8
Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar invited expatriate Indians and people of Indian origin to actively contribute in making ‘Developed India’. Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar, Youth Program and Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya and Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi inaugurated the Youth Immigrant Indian Day. Officials said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will participate in the inaugural session today, while President Draupadi Murmu will preside over the concluding session tomorrow.
Addressing the gathering, Jaishankar said, ‘I appeal to Prime Minister Modi to promote India as a tourism destination. If the youth of Indian origin bring their young friends from abroad to expose them to our rich and diverse heritage and culture, it will surely become a habit forever.’ Highlighting the various campaigns and programs launched for development in India since 2014 under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, Jaishankar said that it is important for the youth to work so that their potential can be developed. He said, ‘It is important that efforts should be increased to keep the immigrant community continuously connected in view of the changing times.’ -News-Patiala
