There are about 57 Muslim majority countries in the world and if we talk about it, there are 10 countries where the Muslim population is 99% or more. Islam has become the fastest growing religion in the world. There are two main sects of Islam. One Sunni and the other Shia. According to statistics, currently around 1.9 billion people worldwide belong to the Muslim religion. And accordingly the religion of Islam is constantly growing. If we look at Shias and Sunnis, the Sunni community is quite large. According to a BBC report, about 90 percent of the world’s Muslims come from the Sunni community. If we talk about the Shia community, its number is very less compared to the Sunni community. Shia Muslims make up only 10 to 15% of the world. If we talk about countries with Shia Muslim majority, it includes countries like Iran, Iraq, Azerbaijan, Lebanon, Bahrain and Yemen. If we talk about Sunni Muslims, then out of 50 Muslim countries, 40 are Sunni Muslim majority countries. This includes major countries like Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Bangladesh, India and Indonesia.
