It is recalled here that last month the Indian Consulate General had set up a camp inside the temple to issue survival certificates to Indian pension holders living in Canada, but some Khalistani supporters protested against the consulate staff outside the temple and raised anti-India slogans. was going On that occasion, some people objected to the sloganeering and due to this the dispute turned violent, due to which the police had to intervene.
The already sour relationship between Canada and the Government of India was exacerbated by some media outlets promoting the violent clash as an attack on the temple.
