This bridge course will save 35,000 teacher jobs; Register by December 25 Career

Bridge Course: B.Ed. Council teachers holding a degree will have to complete a six-month bridge course. This decision will provide relief to around 35,000 teachers in the state.

B.Ed working in municipal schools. A major change has emerged for qualified teachers. Following the Supreme Court order, it will now be mandatory for all such teachers to complete a six-month bridge course. The decision will provide relief to around 35,000 teachers in the state, as their appointments will be considered valid after completing the course. Following this, the Uttar Pradesh Director of Basic Education Pratap Singh Baghel has issued instructions to all the District Basic Education Officers that B.Ed working in their respective districts. Ensure timely registration of qualified teachers. This six-month Primary Teacher Education (Bridge) course will be conducted by National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) in Open and Distance Learning (ODL) mode.

Last date of registration for this course is 25th December, 2025. Teachers can apply for registration on the website. In case of any technical problem, support can be sought by emailing bridgesupport@nios.ac.in.

The cost of the bridge course will be Rs 25,000

NIOS charges a registration fee of Rs 1,000 and an examination fee of Rs 24,000 for the bridge course, which makes a total of around Rs 25,000. This bridge course covers topics such as child development and educational psychology, curriculum and pedagogy, assessment, language teaching, mathematics pedagogy, environmental studies and school experience. This course will be of total 20 credits.

Supreme Court order

First, B.Ed. to teach classes I to V. The qualification was invalid. In this case, the Supreme Court in Anshuman Singh v. NCTE had ordered on April 8, 2024 that the previously appointed B.Ed. It is necessary for teachers to continue in service by taking a bridge course. The Supreme Court clarified that B.Ed. appointed before August 11, 2023. The services of the teachers, who were appointed under the rules, will be preserved, but they will have to complete the bridge course at all costs. Failure to complete the course within the stipulated time will result in cancellation of the teacher’s appointment.
