UP RTE Admission 2026 : The second round of admissions to private schools under the Right to Education Act (RTE) has begun in Uttar Pradesh. Under this scheme, private schools offer free admission in pre-primary and first class. Online applications for the 2026-27 academic session started from February 21. Parents can apply through the official portal till March 7. Based on the applications received in the second phase, the seats will be allotted through lottery on March 9.

This phase is specifically for parents who were unable to apply in the first phase or whose children were not allotted a seat. The government aims to ensure that no deserving child is deprived of education for financial reasons. In the first phase, a total of over 261,489 applications were received from across the state. Out of these about 109,349 seats have been allotted. The children were selected through a transparent lottery at the district level.

Lucknow, Varanasi and Kanpur received the most applications

District-wise, Lucknow topped the list with 18,107 applications. Varanasi received 17,476 applications, Agra 13,627 and Kanpur Nagar 13,546. It is clear that parents are showing great interest in this scheme. Officials have been directed to convey information about the scheme to as many eligible families as possible in the second phase. Besides increased publicity at block and village panchayat level, timely verification of applications has been mandated. The verification process will now be completed daily and reviewed daily at the state level.

It is mandatory to upload these documents

Parents are required to upload their child’s birth certificate, residence certificate and income certificate while applying. This scheme is a great relief for the economically weaker section families. 25 percent seats are reserved in private schools under RTE, where free education is provided to selected children.
