India’s Aishwarya Pratap Singh made her ISSF World Cup finals debut, winning silver for India in the 50m rifle 3 position event.

Doha: India’s 50m rifle 3 position champion Aishwarya Pratap Singh Tomar won silver at the ISSF World Cup Final, completing a set of medals from all possible world and continental championships in the sport. The Indian finished 0.9 points behind Czech Republic’s Jiri Privratsky, who scored 414.2 in the final, which was played in the new 40-shot ISSF format. Olympic champion Liu Yukun won the bronze medal.

A two-time Olympian, former junior world champion, and current Asian champion, Aishwarya also won a silver medal at the World Championships last month. Aishwarya scored 595 in the qualification round, finishing second behind China’s Tian Jiaming. Tian set a world record of 598.

Aishwarya stood fourth in kneeling position

Player of the year Jon-Herman Hague of Norway and Hungarian legend Istvan Peni rounded out the top eight. Aishwarya finished fourth in the kneeling position with a score of 102.8 from 10 shots. Aishwarya regained her rhythm in the next 10 shots in the second prone position. He scored strong scores of 52.9 and 52 to move into second place on the leaderboard.

Meanwhile, Privratsky was 3.3 seconds ahead. Olympic champion Liu was third. Aishwarya then overtook Privratsky in the next 10 shots, closing the gap to 1.5 seconds. After the 31st shot, it drops to 0.5 seconds. After the 33rd shot, Aishwarya took the lead. Before the last two shots, the gap was just 0.3 seconds. But then Privratsky stepped up and won gold, his third ISSF gold this year.

Manu Bhakar disappointed

Aishwarya also ended the year on a high note after a disappointing start to the year. It was India’s fourth medal in the tournament held in Doha. Sifat Kaur Samra in the women’s three-position event and Manu Bhakar in the women’s 25m pistol failed to advance beyond the qualification stage. Sifat scored 584 in his relay to finish 10th, while Manu scored 581 to finish ninth.
