Bangalore: Dhruv Jurrell shared a 184-run partnership with Harsh Dubey (84) for the sixth wicket as India A declared their second innings at 382 for seven, taking their total lead to 416 runs. South Africa A had scored 25 runs for no loss till stumps. He needs another 392 runs to win. Lesego Senokwane (nine) and Jordan Harman (15) were at the crease until stumps.
In India’s final Test series against the West Indies, Jurrell made way for the team due to an injury to regular wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant, scoring a century in the second Test. Despite Pant’s return to the national team after recovering from injury, Jurel, who scored two centuries against South Africa A, is likely to retain his place in the playing XI. He scored an unbeaten 132 in the first innings.
Just like the first innings, Jurrell did not give the South African bowlers a chance in the second innings as well. Jurrell once again gave the South Africa A bowlers no chance due to his strong defensive play. He scored runs in his innings by playing excellent ground shots without playing any risky aerial shots. During this innings, he made excellent use of cut, drive and flick and completed his half-century in 83 balls, while Dubey completed his half-century in 76 balls. Jurrell completed his 14th first-class century in 159 balls with a flick shot off fast bowler Tian van Vuuren.
Kyle Simmonds, who gave life to Dube at zero by dropping a catch, ended his innings with a brilliant catch from Shepo Moreki. Skipper Pant, who was his second batsman at the crease, again batted aggressively. He was retired Hurt three times in the opening session of the day.
