Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema today said that more than 44 per cent of GST revenue has collected over June in Punjab. Talking to reporters in Punjab Bhawan, Cheema said that this time the Rs 2379.90 crore has collected GST revenue in June this time, which has more than Rs. 732 crore has more than last year. He said that Rs 1647 crore was raised from GST during June in June 2024. Meanwhile, five businessmen paid by the state government during June.
Cheema said that during the old governments, the financial condition of Punjab had deteriorated and the state government had grown a burden of debt. He said that the current government revenue was increasing during the three-year performance of the government. Rs 55,146 crore tax collected during 2017 to 2022 while Rs 62,733 crore has gathered during the three-year term tenure. He confirmed a new loan of Rs. 8500 crore. He said that the state government had referred to raising Rs 39,000 crore in the budget of the financial year 2025-26. He said that the amount of Rs. 18,200 crore was to be paid by the state government and Rs. 25,000 crore.
