The anti-Operation Green Hunt Democratic Front Punjab organized a provincial convention against repression at Tarkasheel Bhavan Barnala here today. Researcher Bela Bhatia and Dr. as the main speaker. The speakers said that there is a need to understand the real motive of the operation being carried out in the name of eradicating Naxalism in Bastar and other tribal areas. He said that to pave the way for corporate domination, those laws which recognized the natural right of tribals over forests are also being abolished. Intellectuals who raised their voices for the rights of tribals and intellectuals who questioned anti-people policies, writers, lawyers, artists etc. are being thrown in jails under the guise of ‘Urban Naxalite’.
In the convention, resolutions were unanimously passed and demanded that killings in tribal areas should be stopped and intellectuals and political activists in jails should be released, all black laws should be repealed, etc. resolutions were passed.
Leaders of organizations, activists, struggling women, writers, journalists, rationalists etc. were present on this occasion. Nargis, Ajmer Akaliya, Paramjit Talewal and Balkaran performed folk songs from Manavata Kala Manch Nagar (Pulse Manch) during the event.
