Thieves targeted two goldsmith shops

Thieves targeted the goldsmith shops of two Sake brothers located on Old Tehsil Road here last night. According to the information, a large gang of around 7-8 thieves first broke the locks of the shutters of Jyoti Jewellers’ shop and filled the silver and gold ornaments in the bag from the plastic boxes inside. The thieves broke the cupboard inside the shop and stole gold ornaments and cash worth Rs 5 lakh from it. The shop owner Ajay Luthra, who was sleeping inside the shop, broke the outer shutter and broke the scissor gate while the thieves were trying to break the aluminum door, causing them to run away. On this occasion, Vinod Luthra, the owner of Jyoti Jewellers, said that the construction work was going on in the upper floor of his shop, the thieves broke the locks of the new small shutters installed in his shop and entered and committed theft. Ajay Luthra said that he had informed the police about the theft at his shop, but he came to know about the attempted theft at his elder brother’s shop in the morning. Thanedar Jaswinder Singh and Thanedar Paramjit Singh from Phillaur police station have reached the spot and started investigating the theft incident.
