A 37-year-old man has been arrested for stealing diamond earrings worth Rs 1 lakh, Rs 35,000 in cash and USD 500 from Bollywood actor Poonam Dhillon’s house. This information was given by the police on Wednesday.
A police official said that the accused Sameer Ansari was hired to paint Dhillon’s flat in Khar area between December 28 and January 5, during which he committed the theft after seeing an open cupboard. Ansari was arrested on Monday.
The official said that he spent Rs 9,000 to throw a party to his other colleagues who were part of the flat painting team, but the police recovered Rs 25,000 in cash, US$ 500 and diamond earrings from him. Succeeded in recovering. The theft came to light when Dhillon’s son Anmol returned home from Dubai on January 5, following which his manager Sandesh Chaudhary lodged a complaint with the police.
