A fire broke out in the master cylinder of a tanker full of oil (power oil) used in transformers near Singhpura Chowk on the Chandigarh-Ambala National Highway this morning. The fire department quickly brought the situation under control and no casualties were reported. Giving information about the incident, tanker driver Avtar Singh, a resident of Malot, said that he was going to Raipur Rani Haryana by taking power oil from Gujarat to Silvassa in the tanker. Meanwhile, the brake of the tanker stopped working near Singhpura Chowk and the master cylinder exploded. Seeing smoke coming out of the engine of the tanker, he immediately stopped the tanker on the roadside and tried to control the fire with water in the vehicle.
Meanwhile, the traffic police personnel posted at Singhpura Chowk reported the matter to the fire department and the vehicles were stopped. The fire brigade brought the situation under control before the fire spread. Fire Officer Rajeev Kumar said that the fire brigade reached the spot within a few minutes of receiving the information and brought the fire under control. Meanwhile, a jammed situation also occurred for some time.
