The four accused Karan Brar, Amandeep Singh, Karnpreet Singh and Kamalpreet Singh, who were arrested for the murder of the then president of Surrey Gurdwara Hardeep Singh Nijhar, who is declared a terrorist by India, should be released on bail by the Supreme Court of Canada. The news of the Indian media agency has been declared false by the police investigation team of Canada and the British Columbia Attorney General’s Office.

Freda, the representative of the investigation team of the case and Anne Seymour, the spokesperson of the British Columbia Attorney General’s Office of the Prosecutor, expressed surprise at this news and said that the four accused are still in prison under the judicial custody of the police and a court in Canada has ordered them to commit suicide. Not granted bail. Seymour said the homicide case, number 86086-1, is pending before the British Columbia Supreme Court in New Westminster, where the first hearing will be held next month (Feb. 11).

The news agency cited the court’s comment that the court granted bail because the prosecution could not present solid evidence against the accused and this news is being seen as an attempt to mislead the public about Canadian law. It has been learned from the sources that a few days ago, acting on the intelligence reports, the police have transferred Mashkook from Surrey jail to a high security jail. According to the sources, after it was found that the accused were allegedly planning to escape from the jail, they have been sent to another place.

It is to be noted that Nijhar was shot dead in the parking lot of the Gurdwara on 18 June 2023. The police identified the accused with the help of CCTV camera footage and arrested three of them from Edmonton and one from Brampton. After this incident, there is tension in the relations between India and Canada.
