On the last day of the year, Revolutionary Marxist Party of India (RMPI) and Kirti Kisan Union Punjab held a political awareness conference in Attari to reopen the Attari-Wahga border for bilateral trade between India and Pakistan. It was presided over by Baba Arjan Singh Hoshiar Nagar, Harpal Singh Chhina, Mukhtar Singh Muhawa and Amarjit Singh Ranike. At the beginning of the conference, tributes were paid to the martyred and departed comrades.
RMPI National General Secretary Mangat Ram Pasla alleged that the central government is creating a religious divide among the people under the Hindutva agenda. Punjab is heading towards disaster but the state government is misleading the people by telling lies. On this occasion, the leader of SKM and state president of Kirti Kisan Union Punjab, Hardev Singh Sandhu said that the people of India and Pakistan want that there should be love and harmony between them.
President of the Democratic Farmers’ Sabha Punjab Dr. Satnam Singh Ajnala and Provincial Leader of Kirti Kisan Union Punjab Dhanwant Singh Khatay Kalan and State President of RMPI and Provincial General Secretary of Border Area Struggle Committee Punjab Ratan Singh Randhawa said that Rs. Acres are given. He said that the Center and the Punjab government have not yet given the compensation for the year 2023-2024. He said that this compensation should be at least 30 thousand per acre. He said that if the BSF does not stop the border people from harassing the farmers, then they will be forced to struggle. In this regard, a letter was given to the higher officials regarding the opening of the border for trade and movement of people and other demands.
