Dense fog and cold wave hit the plains

In the hilly areas adjoining Punjab and Haryana, severe cold has been falling for the past several days and this cold has also affected the plains. Due to the cold winds, the temperature has dropped. On the other hand, dense fog and cold wave continued in many areas of Punjab today, but in the afternoon people got relief as the sun broke out in Malwa region. New city of Punjab was the coldest today where the minimum temperature was recorded at 6 degree Celsius. On the other hand, meteorologists have predicted a cold wave on January 7 and 8 due to dense fog in the state. Along with this, the meteorological department has also issued an orange alert for two days.

According to information, there was rain in some areas of Punjab from last evening till late night. After the rain, cold winds blew, which kept the people cool. Road and rail traffic were also affected due to dense fog and cold wave in Punjab. On the other hand, due to dense fog, many flights were also delayed instead of the scheduled time. On the other hand, the recent rains are being said to be beneficial for the crops due to which the faces of the farmers have blossomed.

According to the information received from the Meteorological Department, the minimum temperature today in Punjab capital Chandigarh is 9.8 degrees Celsius, 8.6 degrees Celsius in Amritsar, 8.4 degrees Celsius in Ludhiana, 8.3 degrees Celsius in Patiala, 9.5 degrees Celsius in Pathankot, 7.2 degrees Celsius in Bathinda, 7.2 degrees Celsius in Faridkot, 6.5 degrees Celsius in Gurdaspur, Barnala 7.9 degree Celsius, 8.5 degree Celsius in Fatehgarh Sahib, 10.6 degree Celsius in Fazilka, 10.9 degree Celsius in Moga, 11.1 degree Celsius in Mohali, 10.1 degree Celsius in Rupnagar.
