Four Naxalites lost their lives in an encounter with security forces in Chhattisgarh’s Bastar area, while a head constable of the District Reserve Guard (DRG) was martyred. The competition took place on Saturday evening in the forests of South Abujamad along the border of Narayanpur and Dantewara. According to a senior police officer, an operation was conducted against the Naxalites in the forest by a joint team of DRG and Special Task Force (STF), when the firing started by the Naxalites. The officer said that when the firing stopped on Saturday night, the bodies of four Naxalites along with AK-47 rifle and self-loading rifle (SLR) automatic weapons were found from the spot. DRG head constable Sanu Karam was martyred during the encounter. According to the official, the search operation was going on in the area. The security forces launched an anti-Naxal operation on Friday along with DRG teams from Narayanpur, Dantewada, Kondagaon and Bastar districts. On the other hand, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai said that the fight will continue to eradicate the scourge of Naxalism. Sai later also shared information about this operation in a post on X. The Chief Minister has expressed grief over the death of the policeman who was martyred in the encounter. -News-Patiala
