Mutyala Reddy, the father of Indian batsman Nitish Kumar Reddy, who scored a century in the fourth Test cricket match against Australia in Melbourne, today when he met his childhood ‘hero’ Sunil Gavaskar, he touched the feet of the little master. Gavaskar was actually taking Nitish’s father to the official broadcaster’s box (commentator’s box). Gavaskar met the Reddy family today, a day after Nitish scored his maiden century. He told Nitish’s father Mutyala that due to his efforts, Indian cricket has got a ‘diamond’ like Nitish today. An emotional Gavaskar said during a meeting with the Reddy family, “You know how much they have sacrificed (for Nitish’s journey) and because of you I have tears in my eyes.” Indian cricket has got a gem.” Reddy’s emotional mother also told Gavaskar that she still can’t believe that her son is playing on such a big field and has played a ‘big innings’. . Mutyala Reddy also thanked fast bowler Mohammad Siraj, whose presence at the other end of the crease enabled Nitish to complete his century. -News-Patiala
