Partnership in climate solutions: ‘India, Sweden can become strong partners in the direction of providing climate solutions’

Swedish officials have said that India and Sweden can further strengthen their cooperation in innovation and green technology with a focus on solving global climate challenges through climate-friendly industrial processes and renewable energy solutions.

Officials from the Embassy of Sweden and ‘Business Sweden’, while talking to News-Patiala, emphasized the joint capacity to innovate and scale up climate-friendly processes. Christian Kamil, Deputy Head of Mission, Embassy of Sweden, said, “Sweden is a pioneer in green technology while India has an unparalleled capacity to implement it on a large scale. Together we can explore technologies like green hydrogen, carbon capture and circular economy practices.”

Kamil also pointed to Sweden’s progress towards renewable energy and transport electrification, saying that more than 50 percent of Sweden’s energy resources are already renewable sources.

Sweden’s Trade Commissioner in India Sofia Hogman highlighted the important role of Swedish companies in promoting climate media in India. He mentioned the ‘India-Sweden Innovation Accelerator’ (ISIA) programme, under which more than 70 Swedish green technology companies have entered the Indian market in 12 years.

Sweden’s Consul General in Mumbai Sven Ostberg gave examples of solid waste management systems of ENVAC in Mumbai and Gujarat and sewage treatment plant of IVL to tackle the pollution problem in Mithi river. He said, “We help these companies by giving advice.” -News-Patiala
