Mock Drill: The police got caught up in Ambala Cantt railway station due to the discovery of unclaimed bags

With the news of an unclaimed bag lying at the railway station of Ambala Cantt, the police got caught in a frenzy. The police had received information that an unclaimed bag was lying outside the parcel office at the Kent railway station. It may also contain explosives. As soon as the information was received, a team of bomb disposal squad including GRP and a squad of RPF reached the spot. When this unclaimed bag was checked, torn clothes were found in it which were kept in the bag under mock drill.

In fact, the security agencies had planned a mock drill for Christmas and New Year. The aim was to instill a sense of security among the passengers and to inform them how a major incident can be avoided by being vigilant. The mock drill started at around 2.30 pm and continued for an hour till 3.30 pm. Meanwhile, the premises of the railway station, car parking, parcel, platform, retiring room, food and drink stalls were inspected with the help of bomb disposal squad and dog squad.

This is not the first mock drill at Ambala Cantt railway station. Even before this, the security teams have conducted surprise inspections many times. Regarding today’s operation, GRP police chief Dharmbir Singh said that a mock drill was conducted at the Kent railway station keeping in mind the New Year and Christmas. The help of bomb disposal squad has been taken in this. Its aim was to create a sense of security among the passengers. Meanwhile, the passengers were appealed to immediately inform the nearest police personnel if they see any suspicious object or person in the vicinity.
