A gunfight broke out between two armed groups in Manipur’s Imphal East district this morning. The police gave this information.
The police said that armed people opened fire targeting Sinam Kom village from the hills of Kangpokpi district. He said that armed ‘Grameen Swayam Sevaks’ posted in the foothills retaliated.
The police said that after this incident, additional security forces have been deployed in the area. He said that no one was injured in the incident. He said that gunfire broke out between armed people and security forces in Thamnapokpi in Imphal East and nearby Uyok Ching on Tuesday night.
The caste conflict between the Mayiti and Kuki communities that started on 3 May 2023 has so far killed more than 250 people and left thousands homeless. -News-Patiala
