Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Friday wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi urging him to perform the last rites of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh at a place where his memorial can be built. He wrote this letter to Dr. Written after talking to PM Modi about setting up a memorial for Manmohan Singh, a two-time prime minister revered by the people of the country.
Kharge wrote in his two-page letter, “This morning we propose a telephone conversation, in which I Dr. Manmohan Singh’s last rites, which will be held tomorrow i.e. December 28, at his final resting place, which will be a sacred place for the memory of the great son of India.” He wrote, “These politicians and former Keeping in mind such a tradition of placing memorials at the funeral places of Prime Ministers.”
The Congress President said that when the country was in a period of severe economic crisis, Dr. along with former Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao. It was Manmohan Singh who brought India out of crisis and also led the country to economic prosperity and stability. Kharge mentioned that today the nation is benefiting from the strong economic foundation they built.
The Congress president said, “I hope and trust that Dr. Manmohan Singh’s request to be cremated at a place where his memorial can be built will be accepted.” -News-Patiala
