Senior off-spinner Deepti Sharma’s all-round performance led India to a 3-0 clean sweep after defeating West Indies by five wickets in the third and final women’s one-day international here today. Deepti took six wickets for 31 runs in a career-best bowling performance and later contributed an unbeaten 39 runs with the bat. Batting first, the West Indies team could score only 162 runs. Apart from Deepti, Renuka Singh Thakur took four wickets for India. India achieved this target by scoring 167 runs for five wickets in 28.2 overs.
India had lost four wickets for 73 runs at one point, but thanks to Deepti’s unbeaten 39 runs, the team achieved the target 21 overs earlier. Along with him, wicketkeeper batsman Richa Ghosh remained unbeaten by scoring 23 runs in 11 balls. Apart from these, captain Harmanpreet Kaur contributed 32 runs, Jemima Rodrigues 29 and Pratika Rawal 18 runs for India. Smrita Mandhana four and Harleen Deol, who scored a century in the last match, could score only one run. -News-Patiala
