The tragic demise of Dr. Manmohan Singh marks the end of such a special political leadership, who was imbued with intellectual capacity, integrity, transparency and unparalleled humility. This unique personality of few words listened to all, the high and the low, and resolved the most complex issues with his decisions, which proved to be in the best interest of the country.

During my civil services career, I received Dr. I had the privilege of working with Manmohan Singh, when he was the finance minister of the country and it was the most difficult period for the country, because at that time the country had to pledge its gold. I served continuously as Defense and Home Secretaries and often had to visit his office almost daily, pleading for financial relief for these departments.
Dr. Manmohan Singh will always be remembered for his deep commitment to the interests of the country. As the father of India’s economic reforms under the leadership of the then Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao in the early 1990s and as Prime Minister, Dr. It was Manmohan Singh’s effort – the so-called ‘passionate spirit’ – that saved India from the negative effects of the 2008 global crisis. Despite the opposition of his own party, he signed a non-military nuclear agreement with the US, due to which India emerged as a responsible power at the international level.
His dedication to improving relations with India’s neighboring countries was unparalleled; Despite the 2008 Mumbai attacks, relations with Pakistan improved at the people-to-people level, and he also showed no hesitation in holding Pakistan’s military directly responsible for the Mumbai attacks.
Dr. I I had the good fortune to serve again with Singh when he was Prime Minister and appointed me as the Governor of Jammu and Kashmir. Dr. Throughout his long and distinguished career, first as a civil servant and later as a Union Minister and Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh stood firm as a rock to walk the moral path without fearing any kind of publicity. Even if for this he had to face difficulties in the same political party, which he himself represented.
Dr. Manmohan Singh will always be remembered with respect for decades to come.
My wife and I express our heartfelt condolences to Mrs. Gursharan Kaur and her family at this time of immense sorrow and pray that God gives them the strength to bear this unbearable loss.
