Junior engineers (JEs) of the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) will start a protest tomorrow over the delay in the enhancement of their initial pay.
News Patiala;
The Council of Junior Engineers (JEs) — PSPCL, which is leading the protest, said a high-level committee formed by the Punjab Government had recommended a grant of initial pay of Rs 19,260 per month to power JEs on the pattern of their counterparts in other departments. However, the Finance Department approved it in 2022 after imposing some unnecessary conditions, which the PSPCL management has been unable to remove. As a result, JEs are still being paid an initial pay of Rs 17,450 only.
The council has decided to hold a series of protests to demand the immediate removal of these conditions and the implementation of the revised pay scale. The first protest will be held in front of all PSPCL circle offices tomorrow. A dharna will also be held in front of the PSPCL head office here by the central working committee of the council on November 10.
If the government fails to meet their demands, a batch of seven members will sit on a hunger strike from November 15 to 24 in front of the PSPCL head office here.
