Mahek Sharma, a 19-year-old Indian girl, was stabbed to death inside her house in Croydon, London. Her husband, Sahil Sharma, is suspected of committing the murder.
Mehek had gone to London on a study visa last year and her husband had joined her there on a spousal visa a few months ago. She was working as a care taker at Fabulous Home Care Limited.
According to the victim’s mother, Madhu Bala, Sahil was harassing Mehek ever since he went to London. He was suspicious of her and used to threaten to kill her.
On the day of the murder, Madhu Bala was unable to contact Mehek. Later, she received a call from London informing her that her daughter had been stabbed to death.
The London police have arrested a 23-year-old youth in connection with the case. The family has requested the Indian government to help bring Mehek’s body back to India.
The SSP of Batala, Ashwani Gotyal, has assured the family that all possible help will be provided.
