Dc Patiala issuance orders prohibiting people.
*Patiala, July 9, 2023– The Deputy Commissioner of Patiala, Sakshi Sawhney IAS, has issued an order prohibiting people from approaching within 20 meters of the banks of any river, rivulet, stream, drain, bund, high point, or rest on looking such river/ rivulet/stream/ drain/ bund by any person- adult and child. The order also prohibits entry into the beds or waters of the entities described above for any purpose personal/ social/ religious and or any other.
The order has been issued due to the forecast of very heavy rainfall over the next three days in Patiala. The water levels in the Ghaggar and its tributaries are very close to the critical mark, and there is a risk of flooding. The order is in effect from July 9 to July 11, 2023.
The Deputy Commissioner has appealed to the people of Patiala to cooperate with the administration and to stay away from the river banks and other water bodies. She has also warned that anyone found violating the order will be prosecuted.
The following are the flood-prone areas in Patiala:
* Ghaggar River
* Markanda River
* Tangri River
* Patiala City
* Sanour
* Rajpura
* Mohali
The Deputy Commissioner has urged the people of these areas to take necessary precautions and to stay safe. She has also asked them to report any waterlogging or other problems to the authorities immediately.
