District administration of Patiala assures residents of safety as work to fill gaps in Ghaggar and other rivers in full swing

News Patiala 31th July:– The district administration of Patiala has assured the residents of the city that they are fully prepared to deal with any flood-related situation. The administration is closely monitoring the weather and has already started filling the gaps in Ghaggar and other rivers caused by flood water.

Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sahni said that the district administration is taking immediate action to protect the life and property of its citizens. She said that in case of heavy rain in the catchment areas, it will take three days for water to come in the rivers passing through the district.

Sahni further said that there were cracks at many places in the Tangri river and Ghaggar river in the district. She said that the work of filling the gaps is being done in very difficult conditions due to water and the work has been allotted to the contractor for each work while the machinery of the nearby villages is JCB. The help of tractors and local labor is also taken and the local residents are also cooperating a lot.

The Deputy Commissioner urged the residents of Patiala not to panic and to rely only on the information issued by the administration. She said that if there is any need, people can contact the flood control room number 0175-2350550.
