News Patiala: The Tehsildar of Patiala has stopped the registration of flats in a colony on Rajpura Road after complaints that flats were being built after passing residential maps of plots.
The Municipal Corporation had approved the maps of three-storey residential constructions in the colony, but the maps are a unit pass, which means that the map of the flat or terrace is not approved by the corporation separately. However, during the construction, flats on the first floor were also sold separately and many of them were registered.
The Joint Commissioner of the Municipal Corporation has written to the Tehsildar, stating that the registration of the flats should be done only after obtaining a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the corporation office.
Joint Commissioner Naman Markan said that violation of rules cannot be tolerated. If the map is passed residential then the flat cannot be registered. Therefore, it has been made mandatory to obtain NOC from the corporation office before the registries of the said colony.
The Municipal Corporation has also taken action against unauthorized constructions in the city. Chandni Chowk, Mall Road in the city behind the car showroom has sealed the unauthorized constructions. Along with this, the corporation has also taken action on the constructions in Gol Gappa Chowk and near Shri Hanuman Temple in Tripuri.
The action by the Tehsildar and the Municipal Corporation has come as a relief to many people who were planning to buy flats in the colony. The ban on registration of flats will prevent people from being cheated by builders who are constructing flats without proper approvals.
The ban on registration of flats is a positive step by the authorities and it is hoped that this will deter builders from flouting the rules and regulations.
