Punjab Sports Minister Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer said that the shooters of Punjab have earned a great reputation at the international level in the shooting sport. Punjabis have immense potential to advance in this sport. Recognizing this, by focusing more on this sport, Punjab will be made the center of shooting. On the instructions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Rs. 6 crores has been released to revamp the shooting ranges of the state.
The Sports Minister had come to inspect the Phase 6 Government Shooting Range in Mohali. On this occasion, Punjab shooters Anjum Moudgil and Arjun Babuta who won medals in the World Cup, and Director of Sports Department Rajesh Dhiman were also with them. He reviewed the indoor air-conditioned range of 10 meters and the range of 25 and 50 meters and the arrangements. Mr. Meet Hare asked to make the range up-to-date and improve the necessary infrastructure.
The sports minister also sought information from the shooters about the facilities required in the range. Also asked about their needs. The shooters shared their experiences and informed the sports minister from all sides. Mr. Meet Hare said that recently the Chief Minister of Punjab had met the shooters. 6 crores have also been released for improving the shooting ranges of the state on his instructions.
Mr. Meet Hare also asked the sports authorities to install pictures of top shooters of Punjab inside the range so that new-age shooters can take inspiration from these players. District sports officer Gurdeep Kaur, shooting coach Supreet Dhaliwal and Ankush Bhardwaj was also present.
