Mayor Sanjeev Sharma Bittu celebrated World Blood Donation Day by cutting a cake on Tuesday at Life Line Blood Bank. Forty people donated blood on the occasion. Encouraging blood donations, the mayor said that blood donation is the only way in the world that is working to close the caste gap. He said that no one’s caste is written on one’s blood but if required then after technical examination the blood of any person can be donated to the needy.
Blood cannot be produced in any other way without the human body, so we need to help the needy through blood donation. No one can be a greater benefactor than the people who have become aware of blood donation. No one can fulfill a greater moral responsibility toward society. On the occasion of World Blood Donor Day, the Mayor along with the blood donors performed the first cake-cutting ceremony. After wished long life to all the blood donors, and prayed for the welfare of all.
Mayor Sanjeev Sharma said World Blood Donor Day is celebrated on the birthday of Carl Landsteiner, a blood group detector. Before the discovery of Carl Landsteiner’s blood group, blood was transfused without group knowledge. For this discovery, Carl Landsteiner was awarded the Nobel Prize in 1930. Dr. Kulbir Kaur, Dr. RPS Walia, Dr. Amandeep Kaur, Dr. Rinpreet Walia, Harminder Nona, Jaspal Tikka, Sagar Arora, Councilor Sandeep Malhotra, Harish Kapoor, National President of Youth Federation of India Parminder Pehalwan, President of Power House Youth Club Jatwinder Grewal, Rupinder Kaur, and other dignitaries were present.
