According to the guideline, in case of fever, 500 mg of paracetamol should be taken only after 6 hours. Extreme care should be taken when administering paracetamol to young children. If the child has a fever and the child is less than one month old, 10 to 15 mg of paracetamol per kg body weight is given at intervals of 4 to 6 hours. The same amount should be given to a child up to 12 years of age at intervals of 6 to 8 hours.

Important precautions before taking paracetamol?

According to WebMD, if you have been taking paracetamol for three days and the fever does not go away, stop taking the medicine immediately and contact your doctor. Paracetamol should not be taken for more than 10 days in any type of pain. Besides, paracetamol should not be taken without a doctor’s advice in case of liver problems, kidney problems, alcohol problems, and low weight.

Side effects of paracetamol overdose?

Taking too much paracetamol can sometimes have side effects. Problems such as allergies, skin rashes, and blood disorders can occur. Also, misuse of paracetamol increases the risk of liver and kidney damage. Overdosage of Paracetamol may cause one of the following problems: diarrhea, excessive sweating, loss of appetite, restlessness, vomiting, abdominal pain, bloating, pain, abdominal cramps.
