In a meeting held at the local Civil Veterinary Hospital, District Veterinary Officers and Veterinary Inspectors of District Malerkotla protested against the election duties imposed by District Selector Sangrur on Veterinary Officers and Para Veterinary Staff of Animal Husbandry Department in the Punjab Assembly elections.
He demanded that the election duties of veterinary officers and para veterinary staff should be canceled immediately as per the directions of the Election Commission of India keeping in view the health care of livestock and the ongoing urgent schemes.
On this occasion the veterinary officer Opposing the election duties, the Veterinary Officer and Veterinary Inspectors Association called on Dr. Misr Singh Senior Veterinary Officer Malerkotla, General Secretary Dr. Mr. Vikram Kapoor, Harnek Singh Jhuner on behalf of Veterinary Inspectors Association, and Mr. Manjit Singh Roorkee, Tehsil President addressed the gathering.
He said that with the closure of Animal Health Institutions by the Election Commission due to selection duties of Veterinary Officers and Para Veterinary Staff. The staff has been ordered not to be on election duty, citing the impact on medical emergency services. He said that the election duties imposed on the District Election Officer Sangrur would adversely affect the functioning of all the animal husbandry organizations.
He said that for the health protection of livestock, vaccination against foot and mouth disease and free AI were also being implemented in every village.
