                        Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer Sandeep Hans paid a surprise visit to the Electronic Media Monitoring Cell set up to monitor electronic media. He was accompanied by ADC-cum-Additional District Electoral Officer Gurpreet Singh Thind and Expenditure Nodal Officer Isha Singhal.

The District Electoral Officer said that as per the instructions of the Election Commission of India, all the candidates contesting the elections should be provided with election-related electronic media including radio, TV, e-paper, cinema hall, and social media (Facebook, Instagram YouTube, etc.). Includes bulk SMS and voice message calls on the phone, for which approval from MCMC (Media Certification and Monitoring Committee) is required. Apart from this, on the day of elections on 20th February and one day before the elections, advertisements in print media i.e. newspapers must be approved by the said committee.

DC Sandeep Hans said that in order to upload video content on their social media accounts, candidates have to get pre-certification of advertisement material on electronic media including creatives and ads, etc. Access to room number 412 (DPRO office) on the floor.
