New Delhi, January 8
AAP leaders Sanjay Singh and Saurabh Bhardwaj have been barred from entering the Delhi Chief Minister’s official residence, they invited the media to accompany them to visit BJP’s ‘Sheesh Mahal’. In view of this, the police set up barricades in front of the 6, Flagstaff Road bungalow and prevented the ‘AAP’ leaders from entering.
AAP leaders invited the media on a tour of the chief minister’s residence, which the BJP claims had become a “Sheesh Mahal” during Arvind Kejriwal’s tenure. Asked whether they had sought permission to visit the residence, Singh and Bhardwaj told reporters, “Why should we seek permission to visit the Chief Minister’s residence?”
They were seen talking to the authorities at the bungalow, pleading to be allowed inside. “Who told you to stop us? I am a minister and I am here for investigation. How and on whose orders can you stop me? Have you received instructions from the Lieutenant Governor? He is the only officer above my rank.” Bhardwaj was heard talking to an officer.
Singh and Bhardwaj told a press conference that they would also take journalists to the Prime Minister’s residence, which AAP has called the “Raj Mahal” and claimed it was built at a cost of Rs 2,700 crore. .
Earlier, he called the Prime Minister’s residence ‘Raj Mahal’ and said that both these properties are government residences. These were built with taxpayers’ money. If there are allegations of misappropriation of funds, both should be investigated. It may be mentioned that a controversy has erupted over alleged irregularities in the renovation of the 6, Flagstaff Road, bungalow and the expensive fittings and household goods it contained. The BJP has centered a major part of its assembly election campaign around these allegations and has referred to the Chief Minister’s bungalow as the “Sheesh Mahal”.
Delhi BJP chief Virender Sachdeva has claimed that after Kejriwal vacated the bungalow, valuables including a “golden commode” were missing. On Tuesday, AAP challenged the BJP to open the Prime Minister’s residence for media visits to bring out the reality and also offered to take journalists on a tour of the Chief Minister’s residence.
