The Union Home Ministry has abolished the post of UT Advisor from Chandigarh, the capital of Punjab and Haryana. Along with this, the Union Home Ministry has transferred the post of Advisor to the post of Chief Secretary. A senior IAS officer is posted by the central government as an adviser, who looks after the entire functioning of the UT under the UT administrator. Now according to the new orders issued by the Union Home Ministry, all the work will be looked after by the Chief Secretary under the UT Administrator. It may be mentioned that currently Rajeev Verma is serving as an advisor to the UT Administrator in Chandigarh. Earlier, senior IAS officers from Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Mizoram and all Union Territories have served as advisors to the UT Administrator in Chandigarh.
