Chandigarh, 18 December
The farmers have blocked the railway tracks in various parts of Punjab (at around 18 places) under the ‘Rel Roko’ protest to pressurize the central government for their pending demands including legal guarantee of MSP. Under the call given by the United Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) and Kisan Mazdoor Mukti Morcha, the farmers will block these railway lines for three hours from 12 noon to 3 pm.
The places where trains are to be stopped by the farmers are Moga, Faridkot, Kadi and Batala in Gurdaspur, Phillaur in Jalandhar, Tanda in Hoshiarpur, Dasuha, Mahilpur, Talwandi Bhai in Ferozepur, Sahnewal in Ludhiana, Shambhu in Patiala, Mohali and Sangrur includes Lehra and Sunam.
Farmers under the banner of United Kisan Morcha (Gercyasi) and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha have been camping at Shambhu and Khanuri borders of Punjab and Haryana since February 13. Farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal has been on fast to death at Khanuri border for the last three weeks for the legal guarantee of MSP and fulfillment of other pending farmers’ demands. -News-Patiala
