Fatehgarh Sahib, Punjab, India – A 21-year-old girl student died after she slipped off while alighting from a train today at Fatehgarh Sahib Railway Station.
Anakha TS, a resident of Kerala, was pursuing Masters in Food Technology at Mata Gujri College in Fatehgarh Sahib. She was reportedly getting off the train when she slipped and fell, getting stuck between the platform and the coach. She was pronounced dead on the spot, having sustained a severe head injury.
Anakha’s parents have been informed of the incident and are on their way to Fatehgarh Sahib. Her body is currently being kept in the Civil Hospital’s mortuary.
The platform at Fatehgarh Sahib Railway Station is relatively low, and the train only halts there for a minute. This has raised concerns about safety at the station, with some locals calling for the platform to be raised and the train to halt for a longer period of time.
